I spent this morning waiting my new house for the DirecTV installer to show up (I had an appointment for 8am to 12pm, which obviously means that he should show up at 1:15pm, which he did). As I was waiting (and watching all the shows on my Time Warner DVR that I have to return tomorrow) there were suddenly sirens and flashing lights outside my window.
Now I was expecting a car accident or a house fire, or an ambulance, but what I saw out my window was more surprising than any of those. There was a parade going down my street. It seems that the students of Windermere Elementary were having some kind of parade down me street in the middle of the day. There was an Amherst Police car, followed by a firetruck, followed by quite a line of students, and then another firetruck. All the students had American Flags and many were chanting U-S-A U-S-A. So, of course, I grabbed my trusty iPhone and took snapped some quick photos (below, click for a bigger view).
Now this all made me feel really out of touch, since I didn't even know that it was a patriotic holiday today .... but it turns out that it's not. The only thing I can figure is that they were having a Flag Day Parade, it was just 2 days late.
