On Easter Morning I attended my first ever Catholic church service. Having grown up in a Presbyterian church I really didn't know what to expect, but I figured it couldn't be that much different than any service I was used to, and all in all it wasn't. Obviously there were some different traditions that I had to learn, and I did feel a little awkward sitting in the pew alone while all the Catholics went up for communion (especially since we were in the 5th row and form my vantage point it looked like I was the only non-Catholic there).
One thing that did strike me as different however was an item from the bulletin, I could retype the whole thing but it's just as easy for you to read it below (click the photo for a closer look).
On the way to Vermont I noticed a rundown church (photo 1 photo 2) on the side of the road with a "For Sale" sign on it. At first I told Brett that we should buy it and move into it as a summer home (it was just outside of Troy, NY so it was a little far from work for us both to commute). I figured it would be cool to live in an old church, I mean what other place could someone move into that has that much stained glass.
After Brett convinced me that it in fact would NOT be cool to live in an old church I came up with a much better use for the building, I figure we should buy it and turn it into a bar that we would call "Church", that way if you get pulled over on the way home when the officer asks where you are coming from you can just answer "I was at Church."
